Anthropic Unveils Claude 3.5 Sonnet and New Features
In a significant leap forward in artificial intelligence, Anthropic has officially launched Claude 3.5 Sonnet, touted as the company's most intelligent model to date. This new release comes with enhanced capabilities that promise to redefine user interactions with AI technology.
Speed and Efficiency at Its Core
Claude 3.5 Sonnet operates at twice the speed of its predecessor, Claude 3 Opus, making it not only faster but also more cost-effective. Available for free on the Claude website and iOS app, it is designed to cater to a wide range of users, including those subscribed to Claude Pro and Team plans, who will enjoy higher rate limits. The model is also accessible via the Anthropic API, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI.
Advanced Capabilities for Diverse Applications
This latest model excels in various benchmarks, demonstrating exceptional performance in graduate-level reasoning, coding proficiency, and visual tasks. Notably, it can now interpret charts and graphs more effectively and transcribe text from imperfect images—capabilities that are particularly beneficial for sectors like retail and logistics.
Computer Use: No Need For People To Operate Computers Now
One of the standout features introduced with Claude 3.5 Sonnet is Computer Use, which allows the AI to interact with desktop applications as if it were a human user. This functionality enables Claude to perform tasks such as filling out forms and executing commands through keystrokes and mouse gestures. Developers can access this feature via the Anthropic API, enhancing the model's utility in real-world applications. It is already available on Public Beta as an API, and if this is fine-tuned in a few months, then the need to operate a computer goes away.
WhatsApp introduces contact storing directly within the app, teases usernames
WhatsApp on Tuesday announced a new feature that will allow users to save contacts within the app. That means that even if you lose your phone or link a new device to your primary number, you will see all your contacts stored within WhatsApp’s cloud storage.
Until now, WhatsApp relied on your phone’s contact book to sync contacts. If a new person messaged you on the app, and you wanted to save their details, the information would be stored locally on your device.
